Paul Thurlby's alphabet prints
First to recommend
Description
Funny and charming. That's Paul Thurlby's series of alphabet prints. Maybe you want to get an initial letter or two, or perhaps all 26.
I'm leaning toward all 26, myself. (via The Estate of Things)

DIY mechanical music box

Description
Suddenly I have the urge to get one of these and make it play "Cum on feel the noize."
A great gift for someone you know who enjoys making music.
You can get additional paper inserts once you run out or get sick of Quiet Riot. (via Shelterrific)

Stainless Steel Sharpie
First to recommend
Description
I love Sharpies for their functionality. I use them at work every day and I always keep a few of them at home just in case.
Stainless steel sharpies use an insert inside a stainless steel body - you can get replacements for a bit more than $2.
There's something awesome about this class of highbrow stainless and lowbrow sharpie functionality.
I want one.

Bottle Opener Key
22 people recommended this item
Description
I recently picked up one of these. It lives quietly on my key chain and comes out at those wild lab parties we throw every once in a while. I like that it fits into my mess of keys and doesn't take up much space. However, it isn't the best beer bottle opener in the world. It takes two tries to get a bottle open - so at the end of the day it wins because you get your beer.

Bjorn Wiinblad poster of a young woman

Description
Bjorn Wiinblad is perhaps more famous for his ceramics - you'll recognize is strong influence on much of Adler's work - but I'm a big fan of his exuberant posters. For a long time these were difficult to find but now there are reproductions available. Take a look at this poster along with others at the same Danish website.

The Perils of Modern Science poster by Travis Pitts
First to recommend
Description
As a scientist, this appeals to me on a few different levels. I mean, I've always wanted to make a robot with laser eyes and I'm usually found chuckling darkly to myself in a lab coat while holding a test tube of something glowing.
Will we save the world? I don't know. I just like the poster.

2009 Banned Books Week Poster: The Lorax
First to recommend
Description
The American Library Association is one of those organizations that warms the cockles of my cold, cold heart. This poster, for the 2009 Banned Books Week uses a quote from the Dr. Seuss book, The Lorax.
I love the design of the poster and the font.
