Canon Powershot A590is 8mp Digital Camera
6 people recommended this item
Description
I picked this camera up recently for a very reasonable price and am really enjoying having it around. It travels with me in my backpack and I can pull it out and take a picture when the mood strikes me. It is compact so you can easily carry it with you, the 4x optical zoom is great and it works well and plays well with my computer.
Canon has a reputation for good cameras and the Canon Powershot A590is lives up to that reputation.

Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic: Alison Bechdel
First to recommend
Description
Alison Bechdel's book about her childhood and her father is an important graphic novel. Comics sometimes allow their creators to explore the difficult parts of their lives and Fun House is a good example of one such exploration.
WIthout giving away what the story is about, it deals with issues of sexuality, death, and growing up different.

Description
There are not enough nice looking menorahs in the world. This one is lovely. Your candles will float above a silver olive branch. I hope to see this in your window during Hannukah this year. (via Apartment Therapy)

Atheist Christmas Cards : Order of St. Nick's Alternative Greeting Cards
First to recommend
Description
I spent a good chunk of time looking for holiday cards that were neither Christmas or Hannukah themed. I have friends and relatives who are Christian, Jewish, Moslem and atheist.
I wish I had known about the Order of St. Nick. They have nice atheist cards for your atheist friends. And they're pretty funny too.

Detailed, elegant clothing from Ireland. This Etsy seller has some items that I can only describe as really lovely. Assertive shrugs with flowers, nicely cut jackets, romantic dresses.
I don't know the language of clothing well enough to describe these. Go take a look and find your own description.

I like the oddball, the quirky, the strange. Hamburgerpanda sells idiosyncratic illustrations: bearsicles, robot sea life, a pony in a jar, and it all works. (via Print and Pattern blog)

Etsy Seller Terry Graziano - hats that transform

Description
I'll let you in on a little secret: I look awful in hats.
Looking awful in hats does not preclude me from recommending Terry Graziano's hats. They've got form and function, texture and shape, and maybe even rock and roll.
At the same time, they are wearable, and isn't that the point?

Description
Goosegrease sells both customized wooden dolls as well as unpainted families so you can make your own. The unpainted dolls would be a great gift for a kid - I can imagine how much fun it would be to paint them.
Custom dolls are also available but right now are not ready for shipping on time for Christmas (or Hannukah).
