Description
A great store that has been working harder and harder and bringing organic products to consumers at reasonable prices. Well worth the trip for interesting foods and wine, as well as eco-sensitive products from detergent to dish-washing liquid at very competitive prices.

If you’re not headed into the water, this is a great, and not horribly expensive, sunscreen. My kids are both sun-sensitive, and trying to keep them from burning as they play outside all day. It was the highest SPF (60) that got a low health hazard score on the Deep Skin Cosmetics safety database. (via Cosmetics Safety Database)

Description
A very nice competitor for the Camry Hybrid, if you can find it. It’s only being made available in a limited number of states, mostly to help Nissan meet its zero emission vehicle requirements in states that have adopted the California Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV) program. Worth checking with your local Nissan dealer to see if they have one in stock, if you’re in the market for a sedan. (via hybridcenter.org)

Essentially a more “tricked out” version of the Escape Hybrid. Seems to be getting kudos for the more stylish interior and exterior, and provides class-leading fuel economy. Again, opt for the front wheel drive, something that they did not have available on the original version of this car. (via hybridcenter.org)

Ford made some nice tweaks to both the style and substance of the Escape Hybrid, getting a 14% boost in fuel economy out of what was already the efficiency leader for SUVs. Go for the front wheel drive version to help maximize your fuel economy and minimize your pain at the pump. (via hybridcenter.org)

Description
Our vehicles engineer Don MacKenzie took a test drive last year and was very impressed – felt it had a little more zip than the Prius (though it does have less cargo space as it’s not a hatchback). Low-to-mid 40s for this car’s fuel economy seems to be the norm. If you’re not in California, the same smog pollution warning applies to the Gen. 1 Civic Hybrid. (via hybridcenter.org)

Description
If fuel economy is of first import to you, stick with the Prius or Camry Hybrid. But if you’re looking for a car that’s a bit roomier, the Camry Hybrid is a great bet that can get you high-30s for fuel economy. Very nicely appointed including a “game like” fuel economy monitor, and the price will actually be coming down with the ’08 model year (to coincide with the end of Toyota’s hybrid tax credit in September). Description
I bought mine in 2005 and am not sorry. Well built, and with proper driving habits, I get 48 mpg in the summer and 40-42 mpg in the winter. Could use a little better rear vision, which I hear they are working for for the Gen. 3 model. Buyer beware the Gen. 1 model if you are buying used, because it sacrifices smog forming emissions for better fuel economy. (via hybridcenter.org)
