About shandke:
My earliest memories as a child were times that I spent making things with my parents, flipping through catalogues that my grandma gave me, or coloring in my numerous coloring books. This is when I first aspired to become an artist. After attending school for graphic design for several years, I was uncertain what I really wanted to do with my life, so I took some time off. Eventually, I finished school and received a Bachelor of Arts in Painting. I was uncertain that I would ever do anything related to my field, as I got tangled up in the ropes of retail. Most recently I have been pursuing illustration opportunities, and I feel like my graphic design and retail experience may actually have found the perfect culmination.
Most of my current artwork is created using reclaimed or recycled resources, and I aspire to create something new out of even the simplest scribbles that others may have left behind. All of my creations convey a relationship between my life experiences, involving the people and places that impact me. In fact, many of my original drawings recently featured are created, using the scribbles--sketches concept. I had found others' scribbles that had been left behind, and I transformed them into original drawings. Now these found scribbles are turned into original drawings and illustrations, which implements a sense of freedom of expression.
