I wish I had this on my trip to the UK and Ireland. A great book, it's such a shame it went out of print. I'd totally plan a trip to the Emerald and British Isles around this book!

Description
Solid second album from British rockers. Not quite as catchy as the self-titled debut, but a good dance-able album. The hooks are all there, and the crazy lyrics too, but there's just something, some edge, that they had on Kasabian that's missing from Empire. Still a great album though.

Description
Great debut from a wonderful British indie band. Great songs to dance to, although with strange, obtuse lyrics. You may have no idea what they're talking about, but it's a fun trip anyways.

Description
Some bands falter on their second album, and some bands take the opportunity to make and even more kick-ass record. The Kaiser Chiefs capitalize on their strengths of writing catchy tunes with great lyrics, but take it to another level. A bit more accessible than the first album, with less of the 80's-ish overtones. Terrific British rock record.

Description
I love catchy British rock. Hooky songs with dirty guitars and clever lyrics. Great chant-along-choruses. Sometimes it sounds a bit 80s nostalgic, thanks to a bit of overzealous synth activity, but it's such fun. Everyday I love it more and more.

Send Away the Tigers: Manic Street Preachers

Description
I never got into old Manic Street Preachers albums (although I do find it inherently cool that Lucien Freud did an album cover for them), so I can't say how this stacks up to their prior work, but I can say how much I love this album. It's got a boatload of really catchy songs. Heck, even "Rendition" is catchy, which is surprising given it's titular subject material. Yes, there's some heavy-handed messages in some of the songs, but "Underdog" and "Indian Summer" more than make up for it to me.

Description
The prototypical british indie rock band. Great hooky songs and witty, sometimes scathing lyrics. The reason why anyone cares about Pete Doherty, he used to make really great music. This proves it.

Description
In Nag Nag Nag Nag, the lead singer laments that he's grown up now but refuses to learn that certain things, like music obsessions, refusing to be seen in jeans rather than trousers, are adolescent concerns. I hope he never learns. Smart pop music, with a bit of snark, or is it sincerity? Because who hasn't broken away from a kiss to turn up a good tune? (the theme of the album's first track)

Another great poppy girl from England. Personally, I like Kate Nash's music better than Lilly Allen, but they definitely come from a lot of the same influences and have that great attitude and accent.
