The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century
4 people recommended this item
Description
This is a terrific book that explains the macro socioeconomic and geopolitical issues which are shaping the world. Thomas Friedman describes core trends which define today's global economy and goes into detail to explain the power shift in consumption and production, driven mostly by India and China. Most of the points are obvious but it's still startling to realize just how massive some of these changes are--and will be--and how the world we work and live in will change.

How to Win Friends & Influence People
4 people recommended this item
Description
Like most good works of art, this book is timeless. The principles inside are as relevant today (if not more) than they work over 75 years ago when it was first published. I realize some of the delivery is corny but if you focus on the core principles you will form better relationships--at work and home--and that is the key to success in life. I own and highly recommend this book.

This book is for anyone who dreams of being an entrepreneur, attaining a goal, or simply having more control over their life and future. I own and highly recommend this book.

High Hopes: Taking the Purple to Pasadena

Description
Ok, so you want to know what a book about football written by a career coach has to do with business. The answer is everything. Gary Barnett pulled off what may be the most unbelievable feat in college athletics by taking perennial cellar dwellar, Northwestern, to the top of the Big 10 rankings for not one but two years in a row. I happened to be in graduate school at Northwestern at the time of this feat. The book is all about leadership and developing a culture of winning. The lessons are timeliness and can be easily applied to businesses of all sizes. I own and highly recommend this book.

This book was recommended to me about five years ago and I've used it for my transition to my last two jobs. I found it to be a practical yet invaluable resource. None of the concepts are earth shattering but the framework is sound and it works. I firmly believe the track record you establish in your first 90 days is telling for your tenure with an organization. Getting started on the right path is essential to your personal success. I own and recommend this book.

Description
My hips and legs get extremely tight when I run. I was recently turned on to this product by my personal trainer who told me these foam rollers are great to break up the tightness and allow the muscle to work properly. It's a little painful to use them but they do work and best of all they are cheap. I own and recommend this product.

I stopped carrying a standard wallet five years ago. I was tired of the bulk and weight of having a wallet in my pants. I switched to this credit card wallet which allows me to carry two credit cards (all anyone really needs), a driver's license and cash. I own this product and love it.

Description
Ok, this is the coolest travel device. Ever encounter the problem of looking for multiple outlets in your hotel to charge your electronic devices? Ever flown overseas and only had one outlet converter so you can only charge one device at a time? This travel monster power extension cord solves all of these problems--and more! It's small, compact, and light weight and it offers you four electric outlets to charge your important devices. I recently used it on the plane and helped the people sitting next to me charge their devices as well. It's an indispensable travel tool in this increasingly electronic age.
