About Me
I am a dedicated and admitted backcountry skier and ski mountaineering addict. I am a member of the 2006 US Ski Mountaineering Team and competed in the 2006 World Ski Mountaineering Championships In Italy. I have been featured in both print and film media for randonnee racing as well as ski mountaineering. In the summer months, I love to train in the mountains and can often be found running up and down the Grand Teton. In my down time, which isn’t much, I like to chill on the drift boat and fly-fish. I have worked in a specialty outdoor shop for the last 7 years and helped Alpinist Magazine develop and launch the Alpinist Mountain Standards Award product endorsement program. I am also a volunteer member of Teton County Search and Rescue. Over the years I have obtained sponsorships from Cloudveil, Patagonia, Vasque, Nike, Atomic, Colltex, Lifelink, Dynafit and Clif Bar, to name a few.

What is the next…
Purchase you’ll make?
I’m hoping it’s a new car or truck! My 94’ Nissan Pick-up is showing its age!
Trend in design?
I think integrating multiple products is the next trend in design, making them both lighter weight and more user friendly. Like lip balm that doubles as energy gel, or kick wax…just kidding. The Black Diamond Avalung pack (next season) is a good example of this.
Car you’d like to own?
A Sportsmobile converted to run on vegetable oil would be the ultimate ski/rescue rig. It would be environmentally friendly, have the ability to keep all my gear organized and still get me to the goods!
Big step you’d like to make?
I really want to make the transition from general ski mountaineering to expedition style skiing…to places like Baffin Island and the Himalayas.
Fad that will fade?
I think that the trend to more high-tech designs will fade. Mountain Hardwear’s new backpack line is an example of this. They seem to be overly intricate, making it a real hassle for end-users to use easily (without an instruction manual).
Vacation you’ll take?
The next vacation I am going to take will probably be to visit my family out east. I don’t see them very often and I have a new niece I haven’t met in person yet.
Thing you’re going to fight for?
User access and conservation are issues I stand-up for. User fees and private property often prohibit recreationist from accessing many square miles of this beautiful country. Locally, fossil fuel exploration and extraction are scaring the earth, and both the environment and the public are paying the price. I’d rather see the focus on alterative fuels.
Secret that’s going to leak?
That I’m currently single! HA!
Hollywood blockbuster going to be about?
How an unknown person becomes president and actually does what’s right for the country…and the world.
Life you’ll lead?
Architect…or maybe a pilot…or an eagle!
Fountain of youth?
You obtain the fountain of youth by doing what you love. For me, it’s being on top of a mountain with my skis. I can often feel energy and solace coming from the surrounding peaks and this helps me deal with my day-to-day life.
Book you’ll read?
Probably some sort of survival story, but I usually only get through a page or two before I fall asleep.
Thing that will change the world?
The courage to do what is right on a global level can change everything.
Guilty-pleasure food in which you’ll indulge?
Ice cream is my number one favorite, but anything with sugar works for me!
Person to whom you’ll say, “I love you”?
Mom and Dad.
