Hobart Welding Gloves

Description

They're like oven mitts. On steroids. And high on propane from the blowtorch. And probably just crazy from being stuck in the kitchen for so long.

Maybe I just love the fact that this is a roasting pan and yet, it still costs more than $100.

Bernzomatic Blow Torch Kit

Description

Thomas Keller recommends getting the more powerful propane-powered blowtorch, as opposed to the apparently sissy butane-fueled kitchen torch.

Liebrary Board Game

Description

Liebrary - it's like Balderdash for writing nerds (as if Balderdash *weren't* for writing nerds)

you draw a card. you read aloud the book title and the plot summary. everyone else has to compose a plausible first line of the book.

then you guess.

i cannot imagine this game with cocktails.

wait, yes i can.

I would never actually use this because it's too cute to ever get scratched and stained, but I'd love to hang this up on pot rack full of copper pots and pans

Rival Slow Cooker

Description

perfect for throwing beef, broth, beans and spices into on a friday night, then waking up on saturday morning to a crock pot full of chili.

of course, it works for other delicious things too. currently, we are "braising" short ribs in stock and spices to serve with creamy masa harina.

Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1MP Digital Camera (Gold)

First to recommend

Description

the power shot sd780 is PERFECT digital camera for a food blogger whose life is mostly about dining out (as opposed to cooking at home, styling food, and setting up fancy shots at home, though under those kind of ideal conditions, it takes sensational pictures). Dining out means the camera has to do well under low(er) light and be small and compact enough to carry around.

For 12.1mp AND an HD VIDEO CAM!!! it is the tiniest camera i've seen, which means it can fit into an evening clutch on your next cocktail party events in the pocket of your boy's jeans when you're traipsing through the county fair, or in (god forbid) a fanny pack) when you're at the hollywood bowl (i may or may not have ever work a fanny pack tot he hollywood bowl).

Incidentally, I have owned canon powershot series digital cameras for as long as i've been using digital cameras and when my last one, canon sd1000 finally had a breakdown, i thought maybe it was time to "graduate" to a digital SLR, but after deep, deliberate, careful consideration of about two minutes, I tossed the ides asking "why?" unless you plan to go semi pro with your photography, you can take good enough pictures with a compact, point-nshoot. you just have to learn how to use the meanual settings, which takes all of about 15 minutes, as opposed to learning how to use a digital slr, which takes years.

LOVE. THIS. CAMERA. (and i got it on MAD SALE at amazon for just over $200)
