The Great Debaters
First to recommend
Description
I was initially skeptical (not being a fan of "inspirational" films), but The Great Debaters does an excellent job of keeping the inspirational parts in the debate speeches and providing a gritty, sometimes horrifying drama. Great acting performances by #Forest Whitaker and #Denzel Washington help as well - highly recommended.

We recently bought one of these and have been really happy with it. It looks nice in the kitchen, sprays olive oil finely and evenly, and really makes your nice olive oil much more versatile and useful.

Art of the Slow Cooker

Description
@MissKellyOT gave this to me as a birthday gift, and I've already learned quite a bit from it (e.g. the author usually recommends browning meat before transferring it to the #slow cookers to get a more flavorful final product). The book is full of great photographs, and has sections on #soup, #stews, and even #desserts I'm looking forward to trying some of the 80 recipes inside.

Rival SCVC604HSS 6 Qt. Removable Crock Pot Slow Cooker

Description
We got this as a wedding gift and didn't use it for a long time, but lately we've been using it a lot. You can make great tasting, affordable meals without much effort, and you don't have to pay nearly as much attention as you do when cooking in an oven.
We've made pot roast, #bbq pork, caribbean style pork (using a great packaged sauce from @Williams-Sonoma) and chicken tikka masala.
This crock pot has high, low and warm temperature settings, and it automatically goes to warm once the timer goes off. I really like the simplicity, and I'm not sure I'd want a more expensive version with more features - since this seems to have everything I need.

Tostitos Scoops Tortilla Chips, Hint of Jalapeno

Description
I try new foods all the time, and its very rare that I find something so tasty that it seems destined to become hugely popular. These chips have that wow factor that I haven't experienced since I first tried Cool Ranch Doritos.
I think of these chips as somewhere between normal Tostitos (plain corn chips) and Doritos (a bit much flavor). They have just the right amount of a really nice flavoring. We've been buying them regularly, but lately they've been sold out at the store. Maybe they're catching on and Tostitos is scrambling to keep up with demand? If not, and Tostitos fails to keep these on shelves, they will have made one of the biggest blunders in the history of packaged foods.

Pentago: A Game for Smarties

Description
I just got this game as a birthday gift from @cogg (thanks!), and have been trying to figure out strategies for it. I like that it's challenging while having such simple rules (get 5 in a row, rotate one block 90 degrees after placing your piece). Pentago reminds me a lot of Pente, another 5 in a row game that's deceptively complex, but simple to learn.

We just saw this tonight, and for me it's up there with Tropic Thunder as one of the best comedies of 2008. I'm a sucker for anything that makes fun of motivational speakers/programs, Jim Carey is great and Zooey Deschanel is cute/cool.

This is an excellent Pinot Noir that we found on a trip to Santa Barbara. A great special occasion wine, very smooth. Somewhat expensive (I think around $30/bottle), but worth it.
