I grew up in Pasadena, growing year-round fruits, vegetables and flowers organically. For 20 years, I have contributed gardening articles and photographs to University of California, state and national publications and websites. For 10 years, I have managed the UCCE Common Ground Garden Program, whose volunteers help low-income county residents to grow and eat more nutritious vegetables.

I hope more attractive use of recyled and reused products—increasing their perceived “only” uses.

My 1955 T-Bird. I was so sad when we had to sell it!

After I retire, becoming a consultant to community and school gardens, helping them establish sustainable gardens for healthy kids and communities.

Depending on chemicals for fertilizer and pest control.

To visit gardens around the world, of course!

Establishing more gardens and green space everywhere so everyone can grow something to eat!

How easy and inexpensive gardening and growing food and flowers is. It doesn’t take a lot of effort or money, and is SOOOOO wonderful to serve something to your family and friends that’s just been harvested from your plot!
