It's all about nature for me. Leaves, trees and world peas.
I definately think that "green" is the trend right now...and that what is on top will fall; however, I've always been environmentally-minded.
HOW AND WHY DID WE, AS CONSUMERS, GET SUCKED INTO PAYING MORE FOR CRAPPIER THINGS? Is it a matter of convenience? How convenient is it going broke for things to end up in the landfill? We can make responsible choices for the environment AND our wallets.
I am in the habit of research and recommend accordingly... with the exception of some fun stuff. So, I never fully believe labels (greenwashing, anyone?). For example, I can't get myself to recommend melamine products, because if you can't put them in the microwave - then somethings wrong. Are we running from one thing, just to get burned by another? In addition, some beauty products claim eco-friendliness right now (because it's IN), but the company doesn't have very good eco-practices. So, many a things go on being on the web, without finding their way to my space!
