Former Shopping.com U.S. General Manager to contribute Online Market Expertise
July 30, 2007—Los Angeles—ThisNext.com, a social product discovery and recommendation site, announces the appointment of Rob Goldman to the board of directors. Goldman brings an impressive background in Internet marketing, e-commerce, partnerships and distribution from 15 years of executive experience building and running numerous shop-centric companies, most notably Shopping.com.
“Rob’s extensive knowledge with the online space is extremely valuable to ThisNext,” says Gordon Gould, CEO and Co-Founder of ThisNext, “His expansive hands-on expertise inclusive of launching Web start-ups to operating well-established companies make him the ideal person to round out our board.rdquo;
Goldman is excited about joining ThisNext, saying “I feel ThisNext is the only social shopping site with a strong point of view and an even stronger brand promise, which translates directly into a community of users who are passionate about the company and about each other. I believe ThisNext will come to own a very important segment in social shopping, and I look forward to contributing my insight to help achieve that goal.rdquo;
Goldman was instrumental to Shopping.com’s success, holding an early position of VP of Business Intelligence leading up to eBay’s acquisition of the company in June 2005. During Goldman’s tenure as General Manager, shopping.com grew roughly twice as fast as the e-commerce market and was the largest comparison shopping network with a monthly average of 20+ million unique visitors.
Prior to his 2001-2006 tenure at Shopping.com, Goldman was co-founder of Digital Jones, which was acquired by Dealtime in 2001. Goldman was also a member of the executive team at early e-commerce start-up Dash.com in New York in 1999 where he ran customer experience efforts. Rob also co-founded and served as CEO for NeverMissASale.com, one of the internet’s first local shopping sites.
Rob received a B.A. from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
