Drinking a ton of water is one of my few good habits, and after learning about the leaching toxins in the plastic bottles I was toting around, we went on the hunt for COOL stainless steel bottles. Everyone is jealous, but I tell them where to get one as bottled water is one of my pet peeves.

I found these online last year and bought two sippy cups for my two little girls. I couldn't be happier. They're tough, light, and healthier with no chemical leaching like plastic bottles. If you drink water, you want one of these.

How many plastic water bottles do you have laying around the back seat of your car? Come on, admit it. I always have a least 3 or more in rotation and there is nothing like taking a swig from a nice, old, warm plastic water bottle. Yuck. Time for us all to invest in a Sigge. Sigge makes unbreakable water bottles that can be reused over and over again. They also don’t give off harmful chemicals like a lot of other plastic water bottles do. Tests show that this is the only bottle with an inner coating resistant to fruit acids and isotonic drinks. Swiss high-tech production at work again. Better still, they are super cute and come in a ton of different patterns and colours. For around $15-$20, it's an investment that will last a lifetime AND ease the load on a landfill near you.

Have you heard drinking water from plastic bottles gives you leeches? It's true, sort of. What's really happening is that plastic bottles leech nasty chemicals into your water. Ladies, these chemicals interfere with estrogen levels. How gross is that? Aluminum (that's "aluminium" to you Anglophiles) Sigg bottles are hormone safe, just as light as plastic and as pretty as can be. P.S. Leech: a blood sucking worm or toxic seepage? You see what I did here? Watch out for those homonyms, my friends. They'll get you every time.

Water is good for you. Drinking water when you're out and about can be inconvenient and unhygienic (water fountains) or expensive (buying water), and the hubub over whether plastics are dangerous makes it confusing when selecting a bottle of your own. SIGG has the answer. Their bottles have a water-based, inert, taste-neutral lining. They are durable, lightweight, and stylish. And if you ever really need to get rid of your SIGG, they're 100% recyclable. Your kids can have their own, too. Faboo.

You want to carry water with you. Buying bottled water is an option, but it's expensive, and leads to tons of discarded plastic - definitely not good for the environment. Your other option is buying a refillable sports bottle, but which one? My vote goes for anything made by Sigg. This Swiss company makes high quality, long lasting aluminum bottles suitable not only for water, but juice and carbonated drinks as well. Why Sigg? 1. All Sigg bottles are made from aluminum, a lightweight metal that guarantees no 'plasticy' water taste. For added protection, the bottles are all lined with an FDA approved, taste-neutral sealant. You will taste nothing but your beverage in these. Plus, if you ever want to throw your bottle away, they're fully recyclable. 2. The designs on Sigg bottles are often stunning. Sigg definitely has some graphic artists working on these, and they come out with new looks practically every season. Super chic or super cool, take your pick. This particular bottle is a good size for everyday use, with an 0.6 liter capacity and a stylish design. It comes with an ActiveTop, which is, in my opinion, Sigg's best bottle top. I also recommend the store swissbottle.com. I've ordered from them a few times and have been pleased with their service and selection.

Thes are those great Swiss Sigg bottles...online, in the US. I cant live without my Sigg...and while they're a little pricey...just think with one Sigg and one brita filter on your sink you NEVER EVER have to buy those crappy plastic bottled waters ever ever ever again... Plus when you do have to get rid of your Sigg (which probably wont be ever...because they are insanely easy to clean, dont transfer tastes and dont leach chemicals) you can recycle them... plus the company donates to 1% for the planet... They come in classic designs and tons of other designs as well so you can find the right one for you.

There's no need to purchase wasteful bottled water. Plastic water bottles are often shipped across the world to end up on your store shelves. And on top of the wasted fuel to get them to you, the plastic bottles are difficult to recycle. Instead, use filtered water at home (or buy locally bottled Spring water in gallon size bottles) and reuse these stylish metal water bottles. Tip: add a sliver of cucumber to gently flavor the water. It tastes like spa water then!

This is the first purchase I've made based on a ThisNext recommendation...and boy what a fantastic recommendation! This Sigg water bottle is amazing! Not only do all your beverages taste better than if you had them in the average water bottle (no plastic taste as these are not made of plastic) but you can look stylish while drinking them. I got the Maha bottle in purple and have gotten so many compliments on this bottle. I have never seen people coveting a water bottle, but now I have. And, what I think is the best part of this bottle, is that it you can recycle it when you are done with it. Sigg makes it easy to be green and stylish doing so! Thanks ThisNext!

There’s a big need to reduce the amount of plastic. Plastic is an oil-based product, so the production of plastic adds to the world’s carbon footprint plus the toxic byproducts are quite scary. Plastic also has “downstream” effects not known by many people. www.plasticdebris.org and www.ecologycenter.org/iptf/ are two sites to help educate the public of these side-effects of using plastic. SIGG bottles are extrusion-pressed from a one-piece aluminum blank, which results in uniform, seamless walls. The SIGG bottle has acquired cult status. The company started in Biel, Switzerland in 1908. Since 1998, SIGG has concentrated on its core business: drinking bottles that deliver ultimate customer benefit. SIGG bottles currently enjoy 70% brand recognition in German-speaking countries and lead the European market. SIGG is the brand leader for comprehensive, high-quality drinking systems for leisure and sports use. The SIGG website has a great graphic that shows how the bottles are made. The bottles are widely available throughout the United States and other countries around the world.

I already own three Siggs, but have my eye on Nightgarden, which is about as darkly pretty and mysterious as a water bottle can get. Every time I bring one of these to the gym and office, I feel stylin’. And now that I know about the giant, continent-sized, plastic-trash eddies whirlpooling away in the oceans, I am happy not to be contributing to that horror with Styrofoam ice-coffee containers and water bottles. (I just need to get better about washing my Siggs every night!)

There is an environmental push to encourage people to drink tap water, where possible. Bottled water requires oil and other resources in the production of plastic bottles, and often are required to be shipped long distances (ie: Fiji), when we have wonderful water here. These are a great alternative for those that do drink tap water, but need to take the water with them. Additionally, these have been tested to be 100% safe from leeching (unlike plastic bottles) or other similar brands on the market. Of course the styles are fun too.

The only way to put it is this: it’s simply ludicrous how many plastic bottles we go through every day. (In the U.S., about 30 million. Every day.) Add to that all the research detailing the dangers of plastics leaching into the water we’re drinking, and we’re creating both an environmental and personal health hazard. Aluminum bottles are a smart alternative, and for those of us who aren’t exactly into camping gear (i.e., me), SIGG offers a huge range of graphic, edgy designs that are both stylish and sturdy.

The number of plastic bottles that the average person goes through each year is astounding. And no matter what they do to it, plastic never truly breaks down. It gets buried or washed out to the oceans where it floats forever. Do your part in this! Get a bottle that you can use over & over... and this one is a very stylish one to do it with!
