The Paris Apartment: Romantic Decor on a Flea-Market Budget

Description

Move over shabby chic. Now there's "Paris Apartment."

According to an article by Milena Damjanov in Elle magazine (June 2006), Paris Apartment is the new buzzword in collectors' circles. Type it in an eBay search box and find hundreds of items from a deco mirror to a '50s shoe box.

While the two styles share features, shabby chic is sweet and country whereas Paris Apartment is urbane and sexy.

"It's vintage French furnishings for the modern-day vamps," says Claudia Strasser, the proprietress of both the term (she wrote a book about it and even trademarked it) and the new downtown New York City showroom. Description

This is one of my top three favorite decorating books ever. I love the elegant, eclectic, eccentric, vintage style of it. And the best part is it's the kind of decor you can do yourself even if you're living in genteel poverty like me. The Paris Apartment is an inspiration for people who want everything around them to be both beautiful and unusual.

Description

Gorgous interiors created with a little money and a lot of creativity. Beautiful pictures that will inspire you. If a room were a dress it would be something out of Marie Antoinette's closet but well worn and well loved. Love the style. Love the book
