Tritium is a radioactive material that emits either a green or white light. For 8 dollars you can own a piece of it in a keychain and have a night light that will last for 10 years without any power.

Cool find!

Tritium does not emit any light at all. It is packaged with a fluroescent substance that is excited by the decaying tritium, and that's what creates light. Depending on the type of fluorescent substance, it could glow in any number of colors.

Tritium is a gas, by the way, which is why it must be carefully sealed. You're not buying a "piece of tritium," but a tube with tritium gas and a fluorescent powder. So... don't try to take it apart!
