A complex drama about the friendship between a young idealistic social studies teacher, who has a serious cocaine habit, and a lonely thirteen year old student who's at a crossroads in her life. Features amazing performances from both leads and a great soundtrack from Canadian supergroup Broken Social Scene.
I'm a horrible fan since I actually haven't seen Half Nelson. It's the first huge role that Ryan Gosling made a splash in as a junkie. I've only heard great things about this movie so I am anxious to see it whenever I get the chance.
This is an amazing movie and thank you for not patronizing me by telling me everything will be O.K. and giving me a sugar coated ending. I'm not saying everything is messed up in the end of this movie, but I like where it concluded. Ryan Gosling is a basehead. And he's a NYC school teacher. Conflict of interest maybe? Yes. He forms a friendship with one of his young students who's about to make a pretty bad move. Can he steer her in the right direction? Well, would you take advice from a crack head. I think not. All the actors in this movie were outstanding! Rent this. Don't walk, run.
