Those who have seen some of my other picks might be scratching your head. Discount Retailers? Really? Seriously?
Most know these stores for their closeout brand name clothing and no name home decor. Others know them for endless isles of scary seasonal goods. What people don't realize that hidden on the shelves are some amazing modern design finds- not just art glass clowns! You DO have to look for them and you must know what you're looking for. When you find something, its usually at a great price.
I have found on many occasions the following items, even is parts of the country where you cant find a single modern design store for miles:
iittala, hoya crystal, orrefors crystal, carl mertens, baccarat, bodum, typhoon, modern murano glass, tumi, peugeot kitchen wares, salviati, zack, blomus and so much more.
If you go to places like Target (which I do love) you'll find inspired imitations of the real things. If you get lucky, you can find the real thing at a discount / closeout retailer at a fantastic price.
