Mos Def is one of my favorite Hip Hop artists. Black on Both Sides explores social issues while at the same time including thought provoking lyrics funky beats and an amazing amount of flow through out the entire album. The album is definitely not a "Rap" album. As I listen heavily to Hip Hop that focuses more on beats and flow, Mos Def has become a staple.

For those of you that are just opening your mind to different music genres and are going to give Hip Hop a listen, pick up Black on Both Sides as I know you will not be disappointed. Highlight tracks include; Ms. Fat Booty, Umi Says, Speed Law, New World Water and Mathematics.

A sterling example of the perfect flow mixed with the perfect sound. Now it takes a combination of the two to make a successful albumn, and Mos Def more than delivers a knock out. Ace tracks include Hip Hop, New World Water, and Ms. Fat Booty.
The fluid rhymes took the shape of "old-school" today, while planting the seed for the new aesthetic soon to come.
