The gold standard in political satire, America "The Book" is brilliantly written and almost created Stephen Colbert before he became "Stephen Colbert" Warning: There are nude pictures of supreme court justices and some hilarious satire. Not for those without a sense of humor.

I didn't have high hopes for this book, but it actually is very intelligent. Smart political satire. There are some great laugh out loud moments, and smaller little satire pieces throughout the book. I did think the naked Supreme Court justices was a bit much, but that's really my only objection. Surprisingly, the best part is that the book is quite educational. It very aptly describes the American system of government, and the various responsibilities of each branch. You might learn something you didn't know, like which court to go to when NSA agents break into your house and kill your dog. Great book.

I hate to give any digs to Stephen Colbert, but Jon Stewart's is far more funny, simply because it's got more than one approach to making a joke. A good summer read - and I wish the subject matter wasn't still timely.

Some of the most incisive political commentary this election has come from John Stewart, comedian and genuinely smart guy. What this means for mainstream media/journalism/the concept of the fourth estate, is not a good thing. But it's great for comedy!
