Tumbleweed Connection: Elton John
Description
I was taken aback by the original version of "Madman Across the Water" included in this reissue of the classic "Tumbleweed Connection". "Tumbleweed" is young Elton John at his most country. This backwoods journey is lead by the stories and caricatures that Bernie Taupin presents in verse, yet for me it is the version of "Madman Across the Water" stands out as a burning gem of pop song craftsmanship, I think it was a great gift to the album as a bookend to "Tumbleweed's" first track "Ballad of a Well-Known Gun".
