  Slow food has less to do with time than with process, place, and community. It stands in opposition to fast food to the extent that its core belief is that locally grown and carefully harvested foods should be prepared and enjoyed among friends, and with a maximum attention to season and terroir. Susie Cushner's monumental, detailed photographs and recipes from major adherents the world over add up to a sense of nourishment that extends beyond the body, and into the social.
