Zabar's - NYC's Gourmet Epicurian Emporium

Description

Saul Zabar was one of the original guys in my childhood who took the time and made the effort to roast quality coffee locally. He concentrated on a great combination of quality, value and blending acumen. Since this is the neighborhood I grew up in my mom bought a # of his blends and I was exposed to great coffee when I was young. It took me another 25 years to start roasting my own - but it was because I had the Zabar's imprimatur stamped on me forever that it was possible for me to have a reference point. That's why I love Zabar's, it's coffee, its lox and so many other things about this store. Down side for me as a consumer: it's busy all the time!

Nothing better than Zabar's coffee (and a lot of their other products, too) and if you can swing a 4 lb. order, you can avoid the lines in the store and have it mailed to you.
