Strange looking yes. But attractive...well...eye of the beholder and all that. Here's the description from the website where I found this thing:

As
all strange and unique watches, the Cabestan has its own peculiar way of telling you the time. Thus, the indications of the Cabestan (hour, minute, seconds, and power reserve) appear on the cylinders located at the four "corners" of the watch. For example, in the lower right hand corner, there's a vertically placed tourbillion that makes one rotation per minute, thus showing the actual passing of time. Moreover, winding the watch and setting the time is also a rather strange operation, as it is carried out by using a stem in the form of a movable "winch" which connects directly to one of the small "capstans" that are found at the four exterior angles of the case. And all of these various movements are visible from above and from the side, since the upper part of the case is actually a highly-resistant double sapphire crystal.
