Teak relief panel, 'Leaf of Life'
Cool green foliage envelops warm lamduan blossoms on an ornate floral panel. Delicately sculpted of teakwood, the lacy piece showcases Tay Nontawat's talent. He uses only hand tools and a keen eye for design to create this traditional Thai art form; wood carving is an ancestral handicraft due to the country's flourishing forests. The finished sculpture is dried in the sun, painted by hand and finished with a protective coat of lacquer.
