I grew up with U2, and "Achtung Baby" was probably the first album of theirs that I came to on my own (rather than through my parents' influence). This one's my favorite record of theirs 'cause it's DARK and romantic and sexy and weird. I had the hugest crush on Bono around the time of "Achtung Baby," but now I sort of regard him as the kind of vaguely hip, endearingly obnoxious uncle who you'd sneak outside with to smoke cigarettes during boring family functions (or something).

My personal favorite U2 album, and seminal as far as production goes. Eno and Lanois helped U2 take the wall of sound to a whole new level. Some overlooked favorites include "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)" and "Acrobat".

This was my very first U2 album and still my favorite. Timeless classic, dark, sexy, still fresh and awesome. Love them forever.
