Canon PowerShot G9

 Canon PowerShot G9 - Photo

Ooooh. Must find out more about this. Like what I've read so far in the review at DP review: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0708/07082005canong9.asp Of course, I don't NEED a new camera. I absolutely love my Panasonic DMC-LX2, but it never hurts to just look.

THe best camera I have ever used. Superfast stutter speed, brilliant display, noticably awesome image stablisation. The only down point was that it was expensive, but totally worth it in my opinion.

Probably impractical for most bloggers because of its not-too-discrete size but takes raw pictures so you could do whatever what you want with the image. Plus I feel like it makes me look official. Great for macro shots and the low-light shots I take of cocktails at bars.

This little camera is the perfect size - small enough & light enough you can take anywhere, but not so small that you lose it in your pocket. Lens adaptations available (I have the wide-angle and love it). Also, shoots RAW- a photographer's dream. Video quality very good, also.

This is still the best point and shoot camera out there.. It supports RAW files (if you don't know what that is...just trust me when I tell you that it's great). It also supports time-lapse video mode. These 2 features make this one of the best P&S cameras out there. In addition, the video mode is the best that I have seen in a camera this size (yeah I know the more recent cameras have HD but this camera's videos look better). The newer G10 and G11 don't have time lapse anymore so the G9 is better. The size isn't too bad. It's obviously much smaller than an SLR but it is slightly bigger than the really small P&S cameras. It's also built like a tank. I have actually had it fall off my bike onto the concrete while I was riding 20 MPH and it survived. The G9 is a winner!
