The Lamy 2000 fountain pen is made from fibreglass and stainless steel which gives it a lovely weight and a really comfortable grip. The 2000 has a 14-Kt gold, platinum coated nib which writes like a dream. This fountain pen has a piston operated filling system which means bottled ink is taken directly into the barrel of the pen through the nib and it takes much more ink than a cartridge or a convertor. http://www.jmpennifeather.co.uk/lamy/lamy-2000/lamy-2000-fountain-pen (via Lamy 2000 Fountain Pen)

This is a great fountain pen and does not scratch or skip like some of my Waterman, Caran D'Arche or Namiki's. The only issue with the 2000 is that the nib is wider than most others. The Lamy extra fine about the size of the Namiki medium.
