Unlike most other rums (made from molasses) this brand uses pure cane juice at its first pressing, so it produces a rum that is very clean and smooth with a sweet, slightly grassy sugarcane aroma. This is one of the very few rums I would drink straight up or on-the-rocks, but it's also adds a wonderful dynamic for any cocktails that calls for rum (I won a mojito making contest with 10 Cane!)

I've heard this rum described as a cross between rum and bourbon so you can't really treat it like you would a regular rum. Squirt a slice of orange into it, not lime. But you can use it to make a Saint Valentine cocktail.

1 ½ ounces 10 Cane Rum

½ ounce Grand Marnier

½ ounce ruby port such as Dow's

1 ounce fresh-squeezed orange juice

Orange wheel, for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice, shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange wheel.
