Heineken entered the market with Heineken Premium Light Beer sometime back in April. I just got around to tasting it the other day, and I must say it is a damn fine-tasting beer. Lightish, fresh carbonation, enough remnants of the classic Heiney taste to let you know you have a beer in your hand, and a thinner bottle that screams sophistication and style - or whatever. In their haste to define a new category (dubbed 'luxury light' for those not in touch with the finer things in life...) I think they accidentally omitted a key ingredient. The beer, which seems to be targeted at those who desire a 'lighter' beer in every sense of the word, contains only 3.5% alcohol. Hey! You got your Perrier in my beer. No, YOU got your beer in MY Perrier. Maybe it'll fill a niche for those who like a nice glass of beer or eight with breakfast.

I don't drink beer often, but when I do - no, this isn't a commercial. I drink Heineken.

It's my favorite. It's a bit stronger tasting than most American beers and it has a real bottle cap you have to open (no twist offs!)

When I don't want all the alcohol and am looking to save some calories, I drink Premium Light. It's got almost the same taste and body as the regular but with a little less buzz and intensity. Only 100 calories (compared to 150 in the regular). Plus the bottle looks cool with it's slim shape and clean lettering so you've got some nice design to go with your drink. Probably the best light beer on the market. Just a little pricey.
