It's a cheap, little, hackable photo-frame-form-factor device. Seems like it might make a nice alarm clock. (via caskey)

It sits next to my desktop PC streaming all the happenings from my favourite blogs, websites, and other information. It is my alarm clock, photo frame, IPTV and Linux hacking device(drop into a shell and have fun). (via Chumby)

Is everyone in your office talking about that clever little gadget that plays music, wakes you up in the morning, displays images, and fetches your RSS feeds? Or is that just me?

I first saw the chumby on Wired.com's review of gadgetry that's off the beaten path. With its amazing range of useful stuff, radio, alarm clock, media player, internet thingy and probably the coolest internet ready device ever.

First, some tech specs:
64 MB NAND FLASH ROM
320x240 3.5" TFT LCD with LED backlighting
Touchscreen input
Stereo 2W speakers with hardware mute
Headphone output with headphone presence detection
Microphone input with programmable AGC
Squeeze sensor
3-axis Accelerometer (+/-2g range @ 12 bits resolution)
Three USB 2.0 full-speed
802.11g connectivity

Put chumby by your bed and wake up to your music, either the radio or internet music like shoutcast. Get your RSS info ready, with all the information you need before you even get out of bed.

There's way too much stuff to talk about the Chumby, because it's got a loyal following of modders, hackers and programmers. Yes!! there are widgets and a lot of ways to personalize and modify your Chumby.

It's a strange name, but like TiVo, it's one of those things that you never knew you needed until you got one.

Not your average gadget, chumby displays alarm clocks, weather updates, games, cute graphics . . . and has more treats yet to be released. Available in espresso, pearl or black. I've had mine for a month or two, and highly recommend the Chumby. If you develop in Flash, it gives you a reason to make new widgets for the community and brush up on your Flash Lite app. list.
