No need to advertise you were a little "less motivated" to spend time wrapping gifts this year. Gift boxes are the way to go. Beautiful gift boxes are even better, because the recipient can reuse the box for other things, like jewelry, trinkets or love letters. Although not officially eco-friendly because they are not made of recycled materials, gift boxes are more sustainable because they will be reused for years to come, therefore, creating less waste.

On another note, I particularly love these boxes for their design subjects. Both the koi and the dragonfly have significance in Asian myths. The koi symbolizes wealth and the dragonfly a messenger from the heavens. (via hiphostess)

Crazy patterns which remind me of a story I wrote, "The Karps." And also, of course, of my travels through Japan. Who wouldn't want to receive this as a gift? And whatever comes inside the box is bonus.
