This e-book reader seems a little more open (ie more choices in what books you can read) than the Sony PRS-500. I'm intrigued, though I've never seen one in person.

As busy as the city can get there's still a surprising amount of time when you find yourself having to wait. So another great way to kill time is to catch up on your reading. The iLiad ebook reader from iRex Technologies allows you to carry hundreds of books, magazines and even web content in a very compact package. And the e-ink technology that's used means the reading experience will be as close to a book as you can get without the papercuts. While Sony was the first to market with their own ebook reader I still recommend the iLiad for its extensive feature list and support for multiple memory formats.
