Very fun game for those that want a little more challenge than your typical board game. Once you get the rules down, a 4-player game should take 90 minutes. Appropriate for ages 12 and up. (via Board Game Geek - Settlers of Catan)

Buying this game solely on reviews from other websites my gaming group had no idea what to expect. We knew nothing of the mechanics of the game, no idea about the rules, and took a few tries to simply get the board set up right, but after sitting down and playing through it a few times I can recommend this to anyone out there who is a gamer. Blending luck, strategy, and the ability to work your opponents into giving you what you want with deceptive trades, The Settlers of Catan provides for an enjoyable gaming experience. Once you get the hang of it you'll come back for more hoping that you can claim the title of The Lord of Catan. (via Funagain Games)
