American Psycho: Bret Easton Ellis

A recommendation by brandsurgeon

Yes, American Psycho was a book first. What was once a misunderstood satire is becoming one of the most sought after dark comedies of the 90s. Bret Ellis's American Psycho paints a better picture of Patrick Bateman and paints him as a awkward yuppie. After reading this you might ask yourself why did they cast Christian Bale and not Tom Cruise for the part?

this book can be a little hard to swallow at times and is DEFINITELY not for the faint of heart, or stomach, but is a damn good book.

"...there is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there."
