Nokia N800 Internet Tablet PC
This successor to Nokia's N770 is not a regular cell phone. lt is a fully-functional palmtop PC. lt has a bleeding edge interface, which appeals to the geek in me more than the palm OS. The handwriting interface is taking some getting used to, but the pop-up thumb keyboard works well. The included headphones (with microphone on the cord) are Nokia-great -- almost as good bass as my etymotic isolator headphones. Throw in the multitasking OS and the more-powerful CPU, the sound quality is much better than my treo 650 and the cheap headphones I bought from Palm. This puppy can even play widescreen video at good frame rates. Skype says they'll have a client for it "around the middle of the year". In the meantime, google talk works great and even has video support (though none of my friends have the google talk video plug-in). Nokia reportedly has good support for open source development tools. There is a variety of software already available at https://garage.maemo.org/ .
