I have a special place in my heart for this album because my family listened to it when I was young. On top of that, it's some unbelievable extemporaneous solo piano.
When I was a teenager, I knew very little about jazz... I was a rocknroller, a Motowner, with an early childhood in Pete Seeger. The first time I heard this, I realized I was missing out on something BIG. His improvisation floored me. He took you out of your body into a meditation and flight of feeling that was dumbfounding. THe people who attended this concert must have felt like they went to the moon and back.
Amzing combination of piano virtuosity and moving music.
