Nice simple modern piece that won't take up room and transforms into a type of sculpture when an umbrella is placed in it. Functional and unusual. Details: With his simple Rain Bowl (1996), Sebastian Bergne has redefined the umbrella stand, which traditionally has tall sides and massive footprint. By stripping all that away, Bergne leaves only what’s necessary in the form of a die-cast aluminum dish that collects rainwater as it runs off the umbrella. In addition to the compact footprint, what also caught our eye about this design is how it turns a collection of everyday umbrellas into a sort of dynamic sculpture. As people come and go, the presentation of umbrellas changes with each new shape and color.
