In both 60gig and 20 gig forms, the hype surrounding this much anticipated gaming console? machine? computer? life-altering device? I can't keep track of what its current status is, but i do know few gamers or kids as much as they might hate on it, will really say no to having one. Nor will they be able to hide their large grin when they find it under the tree this year.

Sony's giant black monolith has finally arrived, but so far it's been a bit lackluster. Sure, it plays Blu-ray movies, but it doesn't have anything going on in the games department. Give it a year if you want to play on it, but for now it's only good for high def movies.

I've always thought Playstation is better than Xbox, and I think this just proves me right somehow. Motorstorm looks brilliant, and GTA4 (even though it's not exclusive) will be just amazing. I also like the idea of Home, because I've always wanted to have a multiplayer thing like that.

The graphics and audio are spectacular. It's quiet. Wireless controllers are a relief. Motion-sensing (sixaxis) controllers are fun. Resistance, Fall of Man is a fun game. Not quite Half-Life 2, but very fun. Underworld 2 shows off the Blu-Ray capabilities well.

The Blu Ray Disc pays for the console itself, those things alone cost more than the PS3! This is the strongest video game system out there today so it's definitley worth trying out.

The PlayStation 3 is a great item, it plays PSone and PlayStation 2 games, it has many good games on it's horizon, it has a web browser, a PlayStation Store with games and demos, and much more online fun.

OMG! Its the absolute best thing to come from Sony since Castlevania: Symphony of the Night! This system, even with the delays, is unbelieveable. Its graphics are only comprable to that of actually being there! I've had the opprotunity to play some games on the PS3 and i have to say that i almost cried cuz it was so damn good! Now, dont get me wrong, I love all vid games (young and old) and i dont like discriminating against vid game companies but this thing is un-fucking real. Its selection of games and compatability of play with PS1 and PS2 games is great for long time Playstation fans. And hey, who knows, if you dont like PS3s, there are great mods to turn it into a George Forman grill :)

This review will cover two of the three existing versions of the Playstation 3. We have one 80gb, and two of the 40gb. Let's cover the basics of both models. Games: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, you're kidding right. I can't really knock the PS3's lack of a gaming library. Especially in comparison to the Nintendo Wii. In reality, with multi-platform titles, you can only judge a console's library on exclusive titles. This is where the PS3 is hurting. Don't get me wrong, I love Ratchet & Clank: Future Tools. However, unless you plan on buying most of your multi-platform titles for the PS3, you can't consider the PS3's library of games as a reason to purchase this system. Graphics and Sound: I'm probably the worst person to review graphics and sound. I've never really been impressed with the way a game looks graphically or sounds. I mean, I still have fun playing Oregon Trail. Graphics and sound is highly subjective anyway. Unless you have the premium in video and audio equipment, your results will vary. We have the 80gb console connected to a 55 inch 1080p LCD RPTV set, while the two 40gb consoles are connected to our son's two 720p 37 inch LCD tv's in their rooms. Honestly, I can't tell the difference graphically. I will say this, gameplay is never choppy. It's smooth and fluid as can be. The sound is decent, which is evident when watching Blu-Ray movies. Blu-Ray: I guess this could be considered a plus. However, remember what I said about the graphics. You can't tell the difference really between the Blu-Ray and our really good upscaling DVD player. The major selling point of Blu-Ray as a genre is for kids movies. The extras that come along with Blu-Ray movies are a plus. Forget the price of Blu-Ray discs as a factor. Just get them from Netflix, and you'll be fine. Online Features: Xbox360 should take notes on PS3's online capabilities. Especially in price, free is perfect. I paid for a game, I should be able to play it online for free. Other than that, the PS Store is almost identical to the Xbox Marketplace. Yes, I know you can't purchase television shows or movies, but in my opinion, um, why would you? You can play demos and arcade classics. The joy of Q-bert is a must. Sony recently added themes for your UI display, so I guess if you're into that, rock on. UI Display: This is where PS3 excels over the Xbox360. The simple fact that I can transfer my music/photo/movie library to the PS3 without any hassle, or guilt cause I own a Mac, and not a PC operating Windows. You can switch player profiles with ease, big whoop. I should also mention that if you desire to customize your themes, you can do so FREE. You can use your own pictures, just like the PSP. Now, let's talk about the differences in consoles. Think of the PS3 as a car, and the 40gb is the bare bones low-end model. Yes, you essentially get a PS3, and you save money as well, but it's lacking. You lose backwards compatibility. Which essentially for the money you save, you lose a PS2. Other than that, 40gb fewer of hard drive space, and two fewer USB ports, there is no real difference between the two. With the 80gb version you get a copy of the game Motorstorm, while the 40gb offers a Blu-Ray version of Spiderman 3. I suggest the 80gb for a living room or home theater, and the 40gb for smaller intimate rooms. All in all, I consider the Xbox 360 as my number one console, while the PS3 is my number two. Leaving the Nintendo Wii as number 3.

There just aren't enough good games to recommend this product for the price. However it is the most affordable Blu-ray Player avaialable in North America. It has HDMI out and is a good investment if you want to upgrade to High Definition DVD's.

It's a great system, and with Blu Ray beating out HD DVD in the format wars, it's an excellent way to get an entertainment system that's complete. Another great thing is Sony's Home that's coming out. Home is a virtual world that's going to be integrated like Xbox Live ... but with avatars, ingame movies and games and all sorts of really cool stuff. The games are getting better and better, and more of them.

With this, you can have your blu-ray and your gaming system all in one. With more features than the Xbox 360, but less games to play on it.. it remains an underappreciated powerhouse.

You can download your cd's onto the PS3 and through the internet you can access the album and songs. I no longer have to dig to find the cd that I am wanting to play.

This is clearly the most powerful video game console on the market. It's essentially a super-computer designed to churn out intense gaming with unparalleled graphics and speed. The PS3 could even make "Pong" seem exciting.

I need to get my hands on one of these. That new "Resistance" game looks pretty entertaining. It would provide a great distraction from drowning my head in legal briefs. Now if my cat only had opposable thumbs, she could get in on the action.

I'm keeping a PS3 for a friend who's out of the country for a few months, and I've really enjoyed using it to watch Blu-Ray movies. If you're considering buying a standalone Blu-Ray player, you should really get this instead, since it can do that and so much more. In addition to the games and downloads, you can also connect it to a PC or Mac through your home network (either wired or Wi-Fi). This allows you to stream your music, photos and videos to your TV & stereo, and is a great alternative to standalone competitors like AirTunes, AppleTV or Squeezebox. The technology that enables this is called DLNA, and is available with the standard Windows Media player (you have to enable sharing), as well as 3rd party products for Macs or PCs. I've been using this to stream music to my stereo and view photos. If you want to do videos, I'd recommend using a wired network - for me Wi-Fi hasn't been fast enough to stream video smoothly.
