«The author was born in Moçambique in 1973. He attended the acting course at the Instituto Franco-Português in Lisbon, and continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, obtaining a Master in Arts degree at King's College and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. This play, apparently his first book, is about a young man's struggle to discover his identity. He returns to the seat of a family of returned colonists seeking reconciliation with the colonial past; this proves impossible and results in a murder. Pages 129-33 consist of a self-interview of Guilherme Mendonça.»
