Easily my favorite pleasure read. I couldn't put this book down once I started the first sentence. It is a collection of essays on pop culture and America. It is a manifesto for "Gen X-ers" and though I am not one of them I really relate to and enjoy Klosterman's take on what it is like to grow up and enter adulthood these days. My favorite chapter is the one about John Cusack - you'll love it too! (via Amazon)

"The strength of your memory dictates the size of your reality. And since objective reality is fixed, all we can do is try to experience - to consume - as much of that fixed reality as possible. This can only be done by living in the moment (which I never do) or by exhaustively filing away former moments for later recall (which I do all the time)."
"Life is rarely about what happened; it's about what we think happened."
"Everything is 50-50. Either something will happen, or it will not.... The future has no memory... there is no sliding scale for maybe. Maybe something will happen or maybe it won't. That's all there is."
"Everybody is wrong about everything, just about all the time."

Nothing more than a collection of about 20 or so pop culturally relevant, comedic essays. It's the perfect marriage of relevance and humor. It's a perfect read for engaged person.

I haven't read this yet, but I need to... a friend of mine was reading me the section of questions he asks people to see if he'll like them or not - it was brilliant!
