I first heard this band from Brookyn on The Hype Machine a month ago. The song was Wolf Like Me and I was immediately struck by the pounding drum beats and the distorted guitar that weaves throughout the song. I tagged the song in delicious and went back again and again.

Then I started listening to their other songs and quickly found great tunes like Staring At The Sun and Ambulance.

Then I went to YouTube and watched their live performances at Cochella. I want to see these guys live. Apparently I missed the opportunity at the end of June at Celebrate Brooklyn. It looks like they put on an intense show.

Last week their new record, Return To Cookie Mountain, came out in the UK. I bought it at Amazon and have been listening a bunch. I think Wolf Like Me (the song that got me hooked) is the best song on the record, but there are a number of other good tracks on it as well like Province, Let The Devil In, and Blues From Down Here.

It’s hard to describe TV On The Radio’s music. The best I can come up with is a harder darker Arcade Fire. They use a lot of cool instruments and I particularly like the great horn sounds throughout their music. But the great thing about mp3 blogging is that you can listen to the songs yourself and make up your own mind.

love Wolf Like Me

With all the love surrounding TV on the Radio these days, I think it'd be a sin to not recognize that album that we all first fell in love. This 2006 release, is debatably less progressive, but also a tap-your-foot a sing-a-long kind of thing. If you're behind, this album is awesome.

A high energy, burst out of your skin romp from one of my favorite bands of the last 4 years. Definitely a song to vandalize something to. Hey, blame it on the full moon. (via Amazon)

Killer voice!

i can't believe i forgot to review this before. sexy and a little creepy, this album was my #1 lp of 2006 by a mile. so far in front it almost won again in 2007. "wolf like me" was one of the early leaks, and that jangling, galloping beat is just addictive. you can't help it--it's like "i wanna be your dog" in that way. god, i could probably write a thousand more words on this album, but i won't--just go watch the "wolf like me' on youtube and thank me (and the other people who rec'd this) later.

While "Young Liars" will forever remain my most beloved TV On The Radio song, "Wolf Like Me" off of "Return to Cookie Mountain" is fast becoming a sorta-close second. (via dancingfordimes)
