A memoir by a guy who grew up in Sierra Leone and was forced into the war. A really good glimpse at what it's really like to be in one of Africa's wars.

It's the first book I've read in a long time with a story that had me so captivated that I had to finish the entire book in one sitting. It's about a twelve year old boy in Sierra Leone whose family is ripped apart by civil war. He spends months searching for his family only to reach them moments too late.
Searching for safety and shelter, he finds himself in a village controlled by the goverment's army. It is here that he is recruited, at the age of thirteen, as a boy soldier. Fueled by drugs and revenge, he becomes a superior soldier leading other young boys into battle.
Years later, his commander gives him to UNICEF to be rehabilitated. Reluctant at first, he finds a way to confront his demons and regain his humanity... until the war find him again and he has to make a life changing decision. (via The Super Goods)
