Dearly Departed: True Lies In Song Unearthed From Lone Fir
This is a benefit cd for the Lone Fir Cemetary in Portland, Oregon which is one of Portland's oldest cemetaries and a landmark for its beauty - both architectural and horticulturally. The cd includes 15 tracks by various local musicians including Adam Shearer & Adam Selzer, Al James, Amelia, Chris Robley & The Fear of Heights, Holcombe Waller, James Beaton, Jesse Emerson, Jim Brunberg, Leigh Marble, Matt Sheehy, Nick Jaina, Pete Krebs, Ritchie Young, Storm Large, The Taciturns. Each song pays tribute to a particular colorful resident of Lone Fir, a list which includes some very notorious and sometimes unsavory citizens of Portland's early and often horrific history. It really is a fantastic cd with songs about prostitutes, shanghaiing, thievery, drunkeness, suicide and axe-murderers... In particular check out "Plastic Flowers" by James Beaton...amazing. And it all goes to benefit the Friends of Lone Fir who keep the historical landmark and treasure clean and safe and beautiful for us and for any visitors to our city (not to mention the hundreds of permanent residents of this quiet park)...
