Here's a neat action novelty that uses well established principles of thermodynamics and evaporative cooling to produce repetitive motion. This device is a form of heat engine. If the bird's felt covered head is thoroughly soaked with ordinary water, evaporative cooling begins immediately. With the head being cooler than the base that contains the fluid, a pressure change occurs that moves the fluid UP the bird's neck into his head. His head, now heavy, tilts down into the cup of water pictured. This cycle repeats endlessly as long as there is water in the cup.
