If you endeavor to read about the history of HIV/AIDS in America you can not overlook this book. It's an epic feat of journalism that chronicles politics, science and culture of the early part of the AIDS epidemic. It can be viewed as both a primary and secondary source: a secondary source history of the opening years of the AIDS epidemic, and a primary source on the opinions and views of AIDS at the time of it's writing.
