Donate. If its in good condition and you just don't want to take it with you... don't throw it away, donate it. Of course, don't pass along crap, but for instance - I own a portable air conditioner that I purchased new at a super discount and there is not way I'm taking the size-of-a-70s-robot-and-just-as-heavy air conditioner with me. It works and I only used it for a season - someone will certainly appreciate it and give it a good home. If you so desire, you can even take the receipt for the tax write-off.
