The answer the my question is LocoRoco. Yes a 35 year old female who has seldom if never picked up a controller to play a video game loved this game.

Why?

Here is why:
- Controls, the basic movement is controled by the L and R index buttons. You move through the world in a fluid intuitive roll.
- Visual language. The vibe is very friendly and "cute". Not blood or aggression.
- Characters. The main character is endearing and sings.

You have to see the game to understand.
I believe its the first in a new breed of game that will appeal ot a much broader audience.

LocoRoco is a different type of puzzle experience, the graphics are minimalistic and the gameplay is simple but very engaging, like the original video games for the 8-bit systems. While in this world, you must tilt, roll and bounce LocoRoco out of harms way in this fun platform game.

Once you pick up this game, you won't be able to put it down.

Cutest game ever... All you do is bounce this little smiling blob around, eat flowers to make you bigger, and then kerplode yourself into mini-blobs while singing along to the catchy tunes.

I couldn't stop playing. My friend was angry that I wouldn't let him play his PSP since I was hogging it. Too bad it is the only decent PSP game... I wish they'd release it for DS!!

Loco Roco is one of the weirdest games I've ever played, yet I can't put it down. I love the music, the simplicity, and yes ... I have a problem.
