A really really great book. Easily occupies a place on my top 10 favorite books of all time shelf. My favorite part about Brand is that he spends as much time working on how to think as he does on what to think. So while the book is as a whole is about the preservation and advancement of our civilization, it's also a great book about APPLIED decision science, organizational behavior, various particular fields of study, engineering, and history, and much more. Probably one of these best guides about how to think through problems and how to understand how organizations- from business up to nations- react when faced with decisions (and how to persuade them). As a fellow engineer, he see the world a lot like I do (in his won words as a series of solvable design challenges), so it all just resonates.
