There are so many problems with cotton! The cotton industry uses 52% of the world's agricultural inputs, while only producing 4% of the world's agricultural crop. It is such an energy- (and chemical-) intensive crop to produce. Hemp, on the other hand, is a fast-growing, sustainable crop that needs little or no irrigation or pesticides, produces very nutritional beneficial oils and seeds, and has a fiber that is tougher than cotton and mildew-resistant. You'll love this hemp washcloth!

I was at an election party last night at my very best friend’s house and she brought up a great idea...check it out:
She asked me if I carried around my own soap...we were discussing how eco-friendly people are often laughed at ; )...and I said yes. THEN she asked if I carry around my own TOWEL!?!?
Huh...
Well I didn't. But what a GREAT idea! I know that when I wash my hands at home I use a small towel to dry them. That's common sense. Why would I use paper towels or napkins? They cause waste, cost money and waste energy. Why then do almost ALL companies stock their bathrooms, restrooms, and locker rooms with paper towels and napkins??
Enough is enough...I'm on www.thegreatergreen.com right now and I'm buying this washcloth. It's small and compact enough for me to carry it around. I assume I'll continue to get weird looks from people when I use my all natural soap to wash my hands AND follow up with my OWN TOWEL to dry my hands!!!
The label reads: "long lasting, mildew resistant, organically grown, fair trade"....does it get ANY better than THAT???? :)
I'm excited about this though despite the “looks” I sometimes get. Going green can be contagious. Since I’ve stopped using plastic bags I've gotten more than a few compliments on my choice to switch to cloth, reusable bags. I've noticed more people I work with carrying them. It's great to see that small steps lead to big change!! (via The Greater Green)
