Hostas are extremely popular, hardy perennials (meaning they come up by themselves year after year), grown primarily for their beautiful foliage. They are easy to grow, shade-tolerant plants.
Although they are shade-tolerant, they don't thrive in deep shade. Hostas do best in an area where they are likely to receive at least 6 hours of morning sun, and then some afternoon shade.
Another great feature of Hostas are their disease snail and slug-resistant nature. The leaves are just so thick that the little slimy bastards would rather seek their meals elsewhere!
This particular collection contains Hostas 'Great Expectations,' 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd,' and 'Sum and Substance.' (via parkseed.com)
